Dehydration.
Dehydration is simply when your body is not getting enough fluids. Either you have lost too much fluid in the day, or you aren't consuming enough fluids in the day.
Dehydration can also come from some other surprising sources:
Stress
Diets (low carb or low calorie)
Alcohol consumption
Hormone fluctuations
Some prescription medications or supplements
Some common signs of Dehydration:
Tension headaches or Migraines
Dry mouth
Flaky or dry skin
Feeling dizzy
Tired or sleepy
Fast heart rate
High internal body temperature
So why is it so important to drink water each day?
Not only does water provide the ability to help you perform and stay active, it helps control mood, brain function, reduces anxiety, decreases fatigue, helps with weight loss and helps digestion.
Hydration is extremely important for overall well-being and performance.
So how much water should you drink in a day? I recommend drinking a gallon of water each day. Is this a "Magical" number? No a gallon of water is not a magical number. For most people, the daily minimum recommended amount is
Current Body Weight (lbs) /2 + 15 ounces.
Now this is just the minimum amount assuming you are not active or don't lose much fluids during the day.
Since this doesn't account for physical activity, performance, sweating, humidity, environment, an easy recommendation is 1 gallon of water each day. Otherwise, you would have to log and track all fluid lost throughout the day, to adjust and replenish for the water you lost. And no one has time for all those extra calculations!!!
So simply... Aim for 1 gallon of water each day to increase your overall health.
